We've tried to list some small, personalized
travel services below with the aim of serving a couple or a family. Experienced
travelers know that once you check in at your hotel, the concierge should be
able to suggest a personalized tour operator. These might come in
helpful as you plan your trip.
Obviously we cannot vouch for tour operators we have not had experience with.
However, entries in red indicate that we have used
their services and can recommend them, based on our own, personal experience.

This is an outstanding service and compared to other
similar services around the world, it is very affordable. The guide
assigned to us was a great guy named Esteban. Even prior to flying to
Buenos Aires, Esteban secured ferry reservations for a trip across the Rio de la
Plata to Montevideo, made dinner reservations, and coordinated details of our
multi-day tour via e-mail. I can't speak highly enough about Meet Buenos
Aires and Esteban. He knows this beautiful city and can show you places
others would overlook. And he'll take you to some great local restaurants
that you'd never find on your own. We highly recommend Meet Buenos Aires

While staying at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Bali in Nusa
Dua we arranged a day long tour through the hotel concierge. Our guide was
an absolutely delightful Indonesian named "Chika." He showed us much of
the island, parked us for a nice lunch and we were very pleased with the
service. Chika, I think, is probably well known among hotel concierges in
Bali. I highly recommend him. He comes with a very small mini-van
and pleasant driver. The driver concentrates on the crazy motorcycle
traffic while Chika explains everything you'd ever want to know about Bali.
You can visit temples, the seacoast, stone and wood carving towns, an active
volcano. Just let Chika know what you'd like to do. His service is
inexpensive compared to Europe.

We arranged a day long city tour through our hotel,
the wonderful Shangri-La. A great guy named Kumar turned out to be our
host and gave us the grand tour in an immaculate Mercedes car. Kumar
showed us all nooks and crannies of this amazing city. If you wind up
staying at the beautiful Shangri-La, ask if Kumar is available. He may work out
of other hotels but I'm not sure.

This gentlemen works out of the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok and he did a
great job for us. At the time of our trip, his rates were roughly $20 U.S.
per hour. He knows the city well and can suggest all the sites that you'd
care to see. Even if you're not staying at the Shangri-La, he'll still be
glad to show you the city. He's driven for heads of state and royalty
before and he's a very nice man. He can be contacted at the Shangri-La
Hotel in Bangkok at 02 236 7777. You may need to put a (66) in front of the
number. Things had just started to change when we were there. You can also

twice in London and he is absolutely the best! He is knowledgeable, funny,
punctual, and accommodating. We can't rave enough about Nick. He's
not cheap, but when you add up all the cab fares you'd have to pay to see

Unfortunately I didn't get our guide's last name in Montevideo
but his first name was Diego and he said all the hotels are familiar with him.
We stayed at the Sheraton Montevideo and asked the concierge to arrange a three
hour tour of the city. Diego was great. He gave us the grand tour
from all the classic sites and shrines, to the beautiful beaches to Old Town.
His rate was quite reasonable and you can tell that he truly loves this city.
Tell your hotel concierge (or front desk person) that you want to do a tour and
that you want to secure the services of Diego and I have a hunch they'll be able
to find him.
